Former Grady County Assistant District Attorney Kory Kirkland recently announced he is entering private practice with the firm of Hays and Gordon in Chickasha.
A member of the Oklahoma Bar Association since September 2007, Kirkland served as assistant DA from fall 2007 to January 2011. An experienced trial lawyer, he earned a 14-1 jury trial record on the felony misdemeanor docket while also covering the juvenile deprived/delinquent docket.
Kirkland says he hopes to build up a practice in several areas, including criminal defense, divorce, wills, probate, trusts, real estate and adoptions.

Kirkland graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in letters with an emphasis on biblical languages. He was a member of the Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity, was a Full Merit Scholarship recipient and was on the Faculty Honor Roll and the Dean''s Honor Roll. He was also a Merit Scholar member and was voted most likely to be a U. S. Supreme Court Justice.

He also graduated from Oklahoma City University School of Law with a Juris Doctor Degree in May 2007, graduating in the top 15 percent of his class.He was a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society and was also the recipient of the Waitee Philips Memorial Leadership Full Scholarship.

Kirkland has experience in several areas and has served as legal instructor for the 2010 Oklahoma DARE Officer Convention, legal instructor for the Grady County CLEET Reserve Academy and attorney advisor for the Waurika High School Mock Trial Team in 2009-2010. He was named High School Mock Trial Outstanding Attorney 1997-2000.

When he is not practicing law, Kirkland enjoys a number of activities, including motorcycle touring, playing the guitar, water skiing and snow skiing as well as weight lifting and Rotary.
